From March to December, 'Hidden Treasures' will be held, unmissable guided walking tours to discover Dongo and its monuments. The initiative is part of the shared programme ‘Upper Lake Como: a heritage of flavours, nature, history and traditions’.
The guided tour is an immersive experience that leads to the discovery of the symbolic places of Dongo, between history, art and spirituality. The tour begins at the Shrine of Our Lady of Tears.
Shrine Of Our Lady Of Tears and Franciscan Historical Library: In the Franciscan monastery you can breathe the atmosphere of the 17th century. The visit includes the Shrine with its frescoes, the monastic spaces, the friars' library with its manuscripts and the inner garden. Historical center: a walk along the charming streets of the village of Dongo. Museum of the End of the War: A multimedia journey retraces the final days of Benito Mussolini through audio guides and historical footage. An immersive way of experiencing the places, the events and meeting the key figures which marked the end of the Second World War. Palazzo Manzi: one of the most beautiful palaces in Upper Lake Como, built during the Napoleonic era. Visitors can admire the Sala d’Oro (Golden Hall), the Cappella dell'Immacolata and the ancient library with walnut bookcases. At the end of the visit, aperitif with typical local products and traditional music.
