Albano Valley Park

Albano Valley Park

The Albano Valley Park preserves a number of typical species of fauna and alpine flora. It is a significant environment for the protection of biodiversity and the mountain territory. The acknowledgment of the park has encouraged promotion for the enhancement and protection of the environment and cultural heritage. These mountains were inhabited for centuries by an ancient rural civilization who left numerous testimonies.
The High Route of Lario crosses the park area and is a popular hiking destination, thanks to the presence of CAI Refuges and Municipality shelters placed along different steps of route. While belonging to a single municipality, the park is remarkably wide and lies at the top of an alpine valley, bordering with other river basins.
The Albano Valley is known as a “source of biodiversity” where the flora and fauna keep on reproducing and spreading to other areas. The area is inhabited by deer, chamois, foxes, wild boars as well as by a rich birdlife with a number of raptor species, such as kestrels, buzzards, goshawks and sparrow hawks.
